Emily Kaliel is a historian of health, nutrition, and settler colonialism. She completed her MA under the supervision of Dr. Erika Dyck in 2019. Her PhD research explores the connections between nutrition science, public health programming, and settler colonialism in the Canadian prairies during the early- and mid-twentieth century. Her dissertation specifically examines the connection between diet recommendations supported by nutrition science and public health programming and the alteration of the prairie landscape.
