About Me

Letitia is a PhD Candidate at the University of Saskatchewan. She completed both her BA Honors (2016) and MA (2018) at the University of Alberta. Her BA research focused on public opinion surrounding the internment of Japanese Canadians and Japanese Americans during the Second World War. Her Master’s thesis was a preliminary examination of the health care provided within Japanese Canadian internment sites. Her PhD dissertation expands on this by exploring Japanese Canadian internment in British Columbia and Alberta through a health care lens. She speaks to the importance of place, racialization, segregated health care work, and forms of federally-funded medical care in the pre-Medicare era.
