Mike Chartier Current Graduate Student

Michael Chartier began his PhD studies in the fall of 2020. Using primarily children’s correspondence, magazines, and judicial records, his project explores how Western Canadian youth navigated puberty and reproduction during a period when nationalism, the mental hygiene movement, and purveyors of medical quackery fought to shape the values of Canada’s post ‘Great War’ generation of children. Michael’s research interests are inspired by twenty years of classroom teaching experience and community out-reach work with local health co-operatives and related community organizations.
