Richard is an MA student at the University of Saskatchewan. He completed his BA Honors (2017) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Currently, his masters' project, under the supervision of Dr. Simonne Horwitz, examines the significance of culture in understanding colonial discourse on psychiatry in Ghana.  Utilizing the works of the colonial psychiatrist, Margaret Joyce Field, this project discusses the psychological significance of beliefs such as witchcraft and juju in studying and diagnosing mental disorders in Africa.

Aside from this interest, Richard also studies alternative medical practices in Africa, colonial gender relations, and psychiatric disorders in Ghana.
