Dr. O’Connell, R.D.Psych.

Megan E. O’Connell received her PhD in 2008 from the University of Victoria Clinical Psychology Program, Neuropsychology Emphasis, working under Dr. Holly Tuokko who is a world-renowned dementia expert. Dr. O’Connell is a Registered Doctoral Level Psychologist with the SK College of Psychologists. Dr. O’Connell researches issues in assessment and intervention for dementia, mild cognitive impairment, and cognitive aging. Her publications on aging, cognitive impairment, dementia, and issues related to caregivers of persons with dementia are available

 

Dr. O’Connell is an Associate Professor in the Graduate Program in Clinical Psychology at the University of Saskatchewan. She supervises post-graduate and graduate students – her students and their areas of interest are available. She also supervises clinical psychology doctoral students in clinical practicums at the Rural and Remote Memory Clinic (RRMC). As part of her graduate teaching for clinical psychology students she can provide Memory Checkup Screening Assessments through the fee for service Psychology Services Centre and Memory Checkups in her fee for service private practice. Dr. O’Connell leads the newly developed Rural and Remote Memory Clinic-interventions (RRMCi). The RRMCi involves a suite of interventions tailored to persons with cognitive impairment or dementia and their caregivers. All interventions are provided by Telehealth to ensure accessibility for rural families, and are part of a program of research and therefore there is no fee for service.
