VBMS Students Excel At AAVA Conference

M. Amin Fayaz, Fahar Ibtisham, and Tat Cham took home several awards at the annual meeting of the American Association of Veterinary Anatomists.

Graduate students in Dr. Ali Honaramooz's group received numerous student poster, podium, and travel awards at the annual meeting of the American Association of Veterinary Anatomists, held July 26-29th in Banff. In addition to attendees from American and Canadian universities, this year the meeting had delegates from several other countries. 

Amin Fayaz received a travel award as well as 1st place for his poster titled "In vitro evaluation of the osteogenic potential of porcine gonocytes”, co-authored with Gustavo Rosa, and 3rd place for his podium presentation titled "Long-term non-invasive monitoring of the developmental changes in xenogeneic testis tissue grafts and cell implants using ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM)”, co-authored with Awang Junaidi.

Fahar Ibtisham received a travel award, as well as 2nd place for his podium presentation titled "Production of haploid germ cells in a two-dimensional culture of neonatal mouse spermatogonial stem cells."

In addition, Tat Cham received a travel award to present his poster titled "Formation of testicular tubular structures from neonatal porcine testicular cells in vitro."
