PROGRESS
Mackenzie Burnett is a Master's of Environment and Sustainability student who is co-supervised by Dr. Katherine Stewart. Her research is a part of Developing Eco-Restoration Together (DERT), a project that is developing ways of restoring ecosystems that are rooted in respect for the land and each other.

Mackenzie has a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Environmental Sciences from McGill University. During her undergrad, she conducted four research projects and published two articles in a peer-reviewed journal. Her research has touched on insect and plant diversity, land management, tree health, aquatic ecology, and microplastics.

After graduating, Mackenzie returned to her home province of Alberta where she worked on advancing a circular economy with the Recycling Council of Alberta and Plastic-Free YYC. In 2021, she moved to Saskatoon and began organizing with Climate Justice Saskatoon. Then in 2023, she co-founded the Saskatoon Climate Hub and became an Assistant Coordinator at the Climate Justice Organizing Hub.
