Aboriginal Engagement and Adaptive Capacity: two important components of Sustainable Forest Management
Sarah's research was focused on examining the outstanding partnership between the Prince Albert Model Forest (PAMF) and the Beardy’s and Okemasis First Nation (BOFN). This partnership has allowed the PAMF to further and broaden its understanding of Sustainable Forest Management and effectively demonstrate what engagement with Aboriginal communities should look like. The BOFN has been able to participate in activities that focus on the values and goals set out by the community itself and have also benefitted through its engagement by enhancing many aspects of the community’s adaptive capacity.
This research links to the PROGRESS theme because focuses on a partnership that exemplifies activities that are motivated by resilience, social and environmental sustainability, along with cultural sustainability.
