Gilbert Adum PhD Student

Gilbert Adum is a recipient of Canada’s highest doctoral research award, the Tri-Agency Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship, and the CGPS Tri-Agency Top-up Scholarship.  In collaboration with the Redberry Lake Biosphere Region, Mistawasis Nêhiyawak First Nation, and Muskeg Lake Cree Nation, his PhD research seeks to align Canadian UNESCO Biosphere Regions and Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measures (OECMs) to support biodiversity conservation and the well-being of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities.

Gilbert is also the founder of Save Ghana Frogs, a leading organization in West Africa championing amphibian conservation. He holds MPhil degrees in Wildlife Management and Conservation Leadership from KNUST (Ghana) and Cambridge University (England). Gilbert's outstanding contributions to conservation have earned him several other prestigious awards, including the Green Oscars (Whitley Award), Future Conservationist Award, Miriam Rothschild University of Cambridge Scholarship, Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship, and Joke-Waller Hunter Young Environmental Leaders Award.
