Mistawasis Nêhiyawak, the Canadian Biosphere Reserves Association, and the School of Environment and Sustainability meet in Ottawa.

In June 2018, the Canadian Commission for UNESCO held its annual general meeting.


The theme this year was revitalization of Indigenous Languages in the run up to the UN International Year of Indigenous Languages in 2019. Biosphere Reserves and Indigenous peoples also met to discuss how they could work more effectively together in new projects and initiatives in projects relating to biocultural conservation, sustainability, and language revitalization.
