3D Printing for Neurosurgery

We have been exploring the use of 3D printed brains obtained from the patient’s MRI data for perioperative planning in Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) procedures. The internal nuclei of the basal ganglia are printed in a different color for easy visualization, and the rest of the brain is printed using a translucent material. The entry point, trajectory and targets of DBS electrodes can be planned with great accuracy.
