3D Printing for Neurosurgery

We have been exploring the use of 3D-printed brains obtained from the patient’s MRI data for perioperative planning in Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) procedures. The internal nuclei of the basal ganglia are printed in a different color for easy visualization, and the rest of the brain is printed using a translucent material. The entry point, trajectory and targets of DBS electrodes can be planned with great accuracy.
