Hello, as one of the graduate students working on the project, I am tasked with studying federal housing policy for Indigenous communities. I am excited about the potential application of co-design to future iterations of federal policy development. My goal is to facilitate community knowledge and expertise within federal policy design. In short, I see the value of this project in establishing a new method for policy decolonization in Canada. Besides research, I like to garden, play hardcore music and sports of all kinds.

Nursing

Wanda Martin

Wanda is a nurse scientist at the College of Nursing. She is interested in supporting resilient communities as we adapt to a changing climate. This includes community food security, green infrastructure, and our commitment to nature. Wanda lives in an energy efficient co-housing community in Saskatoon. Favourite past times are gardening, quilting, and learning new and interesting crafts. Originally from New Brunswick, Wanda spent 5 years in Alberta, 3 years in Manitoba and 20 years in British Columbia before moving to Saskatoon, which she now considered home. There is a lot to learn about this land, and Wanda is continually seeking new ways to build relationships with the land that support resilience.

I am one of the graduate students working on the project. I am a nurse, and currently working in community and public health roles supporting individuals with COVID-19 in Saskatoon. Being a part of this project excites me because it’s a chance to support the wellbeing of community members through housing and community design. When I’m not working as a nurse or on research, I love spending time outside with my dog Bruce, and really enjoy being around water.

Tim is the study coordinator for the project, which means he helps with administration and communication. Being a part of this project is exciting for Tim as he has grown up on the prairies and is interested in how we connect with our communities and the land. Outside of work, Tim likes canoeing, camping, and sharing meals with his friends and family.
