Dr. Matheus Oliveira Costa

Dr. Costa is a Professor at the department of Large Animals Clinical Science - WCVM - USask and board-certified veterinary practitioner specializing in swine health. For over a decade, he has led research programs focused on epidemiology, pathogenesis, and vaccine development, including translational research aimed at developing practical solutions for emerging infectious diseases affecting swine production. His research integrates fundamental and applied approaches in infectious disease prevention, herd health management, and antimicrobial stewardship, bridging laboratory discoveries with practical applications for livestock health and production. |

Dr. Ygor Henrique de Paula

With 7 years of experience in swine nutrition and enteric disease research, Dr. de Paula is a DVM contributing to the SSP Research Group’s work on intestinal pathogens, gut health, and disease prevention. His research combines pathogen models with nutritional and production approaches to investigate practical strategies for reducing enteric disease and improving swine health and performance. |

Dr. Monike Willemin Quirino

With over 12 years of experience in swine production and applied research, Dr. Quirino is a DVM that has a strong background in swine reproduction, reproductive biotechnology, and industry-driven research. Currently, she contributes to the development and regulatory process of a vaccine against Streptococcus zooepidemicus, coordinating and supporting clinical trials in pigs and regulatory requirements for vaccine licensing. |

Dr. Carolina Pantuzza Ramos

Dr. Ramos has extensive experience in preventive veterinary medicine, with research expertise in epidemiological studies, diagnostic methods, and strategies for the control of bacterial diseases in domestic animals. She is currently completing a residency in swine clinical medicine in Canada and contributing to a field-based project focused on the elimination of Brachyspira from pig farms. |

MSc. Ana Paula Cunha Norte

With several years of experience epidemiology, poultry and swine health, the DVM Ana Norte (MSc.) is currently pursuing her PhD, working on the development and evaluation of a vaccine against Streptococcus zooepidemicus as part of the SPP Research Group. Her research interests include swine health, epidemiology, molecular typing, and vaccine development. |

DVM Suzana Cortiano Stubert

Suzana Stubert (DVM) is a PhD candidate with research experience in vaccine development, virology, cell culture, and immunology. She has completed a Mitacs Globalink Research Internship at the University of Saskatchewan, developing an in vitro protocol for porcine tonsil culture and currently she is contributing to the SPP Research Group’s research on strategies to control enteric diseases in swine, including diseases associated with Brachyspira spp. |
