Agronomic Crop Imaging
Kaylie Krys is a Master's Student with the ACI Lab working on a her thesis which aims to determine the ability of applying Unoccupied Aerial Vehicle (UAV) imagery to survey and predict plant population counts at the field scale in seedling canola crops. Through collaboration with the Department of Computer Science at USask, a computer model was created to automatically estimate seedling population counts and plant ground cover. Kaylie’s favourite part of this project is driving across central Saskatchewan each spring and flying her UAV on commercial canola fields for the producers she’s partnered with.
