Agronomic Crop Imaging

Racquelle Peters began her position as a Research Assistant for the Agronomic Crop Imaging Lab in the fall of 2023 while completing her Master’s degree in Plant Sciences under the guidance of Dr. Steve Shirtliffe. During this time, her research focused on optimizing organic oat production through sustainable fertility management practices. This involved the integration of green manure cover cropping and livestock manures, as well as exploring the potential of struvite - a recycled phosphorus source derived from municipal waste-waters. In her current role as a Research Assistant, she conducts statistical analyses on data collected from various types of field crop trials, where she then interprets and discusses the results in a meaningful way. Additionally, during the growing season, she contributes to field trial operations through seeding, data collection, and harvesting. She enjoys working in the Agronomic Crop Imaging Lab because of its sustainable crop production advancements that explore both field applications and remote sensing technology.
