Marzi received a Ph.D. degree in Molecular Medicine from Hamadan University of Medical Sciences in Iran, where she studied mechanisms of miRNA-mediated gene regulation in drug-resistant cell lines, focusing on the platinum based anticancer drugs. After finishing her degree, Marzi worked as a research assistant in the Laboratory of System Biology and Bioinformatics in Tehran. Marzi came to Canada in 2022 and joined the Dmitriev Lab as a postdoctoral fellow in July 2023.
