Longterm fruit breeder retires from USask

Dr. Bob Bors officially retired from the University in April 2024.

After 25.5 years, Dr. Bob Bors retired from the department on July 1st, 2024. He will continue to be involved in the fruit program as a volunteer. Since his retirement he continued to host the Haskap days seminar; gathered berries from controlled crosses and extracted seeds; given tours; made notes on promising advanced selections and propagated some of them; written documents for Plant Breeder's Rights for the new haskap varieyt 'Boreal Bliss', and helped 3 professors with grant proposals. In September of 2024 the department undertook the task of interviewing candidates to replace him. Dr. Bors indicated that who ever replaces him, he will be quite happy to offer his assistance for fruit breeding.
