Srikant arrived in Canada for the first time when he joined the Paige Group in September 2019 as a PhD Student. He received his BSc and MSc in Chemistry from his home country, India. Presently, he is working on examining the structure-property relationships in surfactant monolayers and Langmuir-Blodgett films by studying Gemini surfactants at interfaces through X-Ray and microscopy techniques like X-Ray Reflectivity (XR), Grazing Incident X-Ray Diffraction (GIXD), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and Brewster's Angle Microscopy (BAM). He is a peer reviewer in two journals.
Outside the lab, you can find him taking pictures around the city or trying to learn ice skating at the rink during the chilly winters of Saskatoon. He loves teaching, going places, animals, nature, good food and good music like most of us if not all.
Alfred moved to Canada when he joined the Paige Group in September 2018 as a Masters Student. He received his BSc in Chemistry from the University of Cape Coast in his home country, Ghana. Here at USask, his Masters's research in the Paige group involved single-molecule fluorescence spectroscopic analysis of phase-separated 10, 12-pentacosadynoic acid and perfluorotetradecanoic acid system to investigate energy transfer dynamics. He rejoined the Paige group in January 2021 as a PhD student after completing his MSc.
His doctoral research has started with working on understanding how the chirality of photopolymerizable surfactant molecules affects the physicochemical properties of monolayers that contain these surfactants. He loves Soccer and finds happiness in listening to music and helping others. P.S, he is not easily beaten in video games!
Harpreet moved to Canada in January 2022 as a PhD Student. Originally from Haryana, she received her 5-years integrated degree (BS-MS, Chemistry) from Indian Institute of Science, Education and Research (IISER), Mohali in India. Here at USask, she is presently investigating structure-property relationship in Langmuir monolayers of photoswitchable molecules (Donor-Acceptor Stenhouse Adducts; DASA).
Recent Graduates
Dr. Jeveria Rehman
Jeveria joined the Paige Research Group as a PhD student in January 2015 when she was working as a lecturer at the Government College University, Faisalabad since three years. She completed her MS from Lahore in her home country, Pakistan. In the Paige Group, she was working on the synthesis and characterization of gemini surfactant monolayers to study them in bulk and at the interfaces. She finished her PhD in July 2020 and moved on to accept a post-doctoral associate position at the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary in Alberta.
Outside the lab, she loves travelling and exploring new places with her family. Best wishes for a great future, Dr. Rehman!
