Reliability Evaluation of Energy Limited Hydro Power Generation System
Generation adequacy is mainly concerned with adequate generating power to satisfy projected load demand. Most utilities they have already had guidelines and criteria for the generation adequacy studies based on the power output of generation. There are many hydro dominant generation systems in Canada and abroad that are significantly energy limited due to seasonal and annual hydrological constraints; however, current reliability indices are not considering energy limitation from season to season, and year to year which are not suitable for this type of system. This study is focused on investigating the appropriate reliability indices/methods that address hydro generation energy limitation.
