pollen cell wall development

The pollen wall is essential for plant reproduction, providing a protective barrier around male gametes and enabling species-specific fertilization. The complexities required to form this cell wall, with its infamous sporopollenin-fortified structures, have fascinated Dr. Quilichini for over a decade. Continuing the work of her doctorate, and in memory of the late Prof. Carl Douglas, Teagen’s research group will continue to chip away at this challenging puzzle.
