Who we are
We are an interdisciplinary team of clinicians, researchers, trainees, patients, and knowledge users dedicated to improving maternal, fetal, and neonatal outcomes across Saskatchewan and beyond. Our team includes maternal-fetal medicine specialists, obstetricians, nurses, epidemiologists, biostatisticians, and patient partners who work collaboratively to address important challenges in pregnancy and perinatal care.
Our mission
Our mission is to improve the health and well-being of pregnant individuals, babies, and families through innovative, patient-oriented, and evidence-based research. We strive to generate knowledge that informs clinical practice, supports equitable access to care, and improves outcomes for diverse populations, including rural, remote, Indigenous, and underserved communities.
Research areas
Our research focuses on improving the identification, prevention, and management of pregnancy complications and optimizing maternal and neonatal outcomes. Current areas of interest include:
- Placental dysfunction and placental biomarkers
- Preeclampsia and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy
- Fetal growth restriction and stillbirth prevention
- Preterm birth
- Maternal and neonatal health equity
- Rural and remote obstetrical care
- Indigenous maternal and infant health
- Quality improvement in maternal-fetal medicine
- Clinical trials and implementation science
- Health services and population-based perinatal research
Our research approach
Our work is grounded in patient-oriented research principles and collaborative partnerships with patients, families, clinicians, health system leaders, and community organizations. We integrate clinical, epidemiological, and health services research methods to generate evidence that is relevant, actionable, and responsive to the needs of pregnant individuals and families.
