Building Northern Capacity Through Entrepreneurship

Building Northern Capacity through Entrepreneurship in Northern Saskatchewan Indigenous Communities

Welcome to our Building Northern Capacity through Entrepreneurship website. We were honoured to have worked with our wonderful research partners from the Northern Saskatchewan communities that participated in this project. With our friends and colleagues in these communities, we assessed the social and economic needs across Northern Saskatchewan and studied how entrepreneurship can help address community needs. Our mutual goal was to help communities get the information they need to guide their efforts to lead substantial and meaningful change to benefit their people.

I am also honoured to have worked on this important project with my wonderful colleagues at the University of Saskatchewan, including students from the North, and the individuals who live in our Northern communities. We are thankful for the funding provided by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and for the support provided by the University of Saskatchewan.

Thank you to all of you from Northern Saskatchewan who have been a part of this important work. I hope you take the time to watch the videos that explain our research results in the Cree and Dene languages (with English subtitles). We sincerely hope this work will help our friends and colleagues in the North as they strive to continually improve the social and economic conditions in their communities.
