The Burgess group uses surface sensitive vibrational spectroscopy to explore the physical and chemical properties of molecules at electrified interfaces and in microfluidic devices. Our research uses spectroscopic and electrochemical interfacial electrochemical methods to explain phenomena such as molecular organization, electrocatalysis and chemical reactions in confined volumes. We emphasize the coupling of electrochemistry with IR spectroscopic techniques including synchrotron radiation and infrared lasers.
