About Me

Dr. Amanda Quirk was born and raised in Halifax, NS. She received her BSc from Acadia University in Wolfville, NS supervised by Prof. Sharon Roscoe. She completed  her PhD (2012) and MSc (2007) at the University of Guelph, supervised by Prof. Jacek Lipkowski. Her PhD work looked at in situ structural changes of native cellulose fibers from cellulolytic enzyme action using AFM. Amanda continued to move west and joined the Burgess group in May 2013 where she is studying the location of coenzyme Q in biomimetic membranes using electrochemistry techniques and neutron reflectometry. During her spare time, Amanda enjoys ultimate frisbee, basketball and exploring the prairies.
