The Centre for Biologic Imaging Research and Development
Home / Welcome

The Centre for Biologic Imaging Research and Development (C-BIRD) at the University of Saskatchewan, focuses on the translation of the next generation of molecular imaging and therapeutic agents into the clinic. We have over 25 years of experience designing and engineering Biologics (peptide and antibody) for imaging and therapy.
We have extensive experience with nuclear and fluorescence probes ranging from basic research through to clinical trials. In-human trials include completed CT imaging studies and on-going antibody image-guided surgery [NCT04459065] and PET diagnostic imaging studies [NCT04235114]. We also have experience testing efficacy of therapeutic treatments in oncology models.
We have local access to cyclotron produced GMP Zr-89 and F-18. Cu-67 is also produced locally under non-GMP conditions. Other isotopes we have worked with include Lu-177, Ac-225, Y-90, and In-111 obtained through national or international suppliers.
We offer professional reporting including detailed experimental procedures.
C-BIRD is built around a vertically integrated infrastructure, with in-house state-of-the-art imaging technologies, medical radionuclide production, which together enable us to offer services for the development and translation of agents from mice to humans in one centre.
Mission
As a leading Canadian innovator, our mission is to develop biologic theranostic probes while engaging industry and the academic scientific community to leverage C-BIRD infrastructure to advance molecular imaging agents and therapeutics from basic research to translation in patients.
