The Communication and Flourishing Research Lab

Our Lab

Our lab conducts strengths‑based, community‑engaged research focused on neurodevelopmental differences across the lifespan, including autism, ADHD, and Tourette syndrome. We are particularly interested in populations that have been historically underrepresented or misunderstood in research, such as women, gender‑diverse individuals, and those diagnosed later in life.

We use qualitative and mixed‑methods approaches to center lived experience and better understand communication, social development, well‑being, and identity. Across our projects, we work closely with Autistic individuals, people with lived experience, clinicians, educators, and community organizations to ensure our research reflects real‑world priorities and informs meaningful change.

Our work challenges deficit‑focused narratives by highlighting strengths, resilience, and thriving while also identifying systemic barriers to timely diagnosis and appropriate support. Through collaborative research and knowledge translation our lab aims to contribute to more inclusive diagnostic practices, evidence‑based clinical care, and equitable education and health systems.
