Dr. Liang obtained her Ph.D. degree from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada in 2013. From 1995 to 1999, she served as a Lecturer at Northeastern University, Shenyang, China. In October 2001, she joined Schlumberger in Edmonton, Canada, and was promoted to be a Principal Power Systems Engineer in 2009 with this World's leading oil field service company. After serving Schlumberger for almost 12 years, from 2013 to 2019, she was with Washington State University in Vancouver, WA, United States and Memorial University of Newfoundland in St. John’s, NL, Canada as an Assistant Professor and later an Associate Professor. In July 2019, she joined the University of Saskatchewan as an Associate Professor. She is an Adjunct Professor with Memorial University of Newfoundland from 2019 to 2022.

Dr. Liang has published more than 170 refereed journal and conference papers. She serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications and IEEE Industry Applications Magazine since 2013, IEEE Access since 2019, and IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Industrial Electronics (JESTIE) since 2021. From Jan. 2021, she has been Vice Chair and Papers Review Chair for the Power System Engineering Committee, Industrial and Commercial Power System Department, IEEE Industry Application Society (IAS). Dr. Liang is a Senior Member of IEEE and a registered Professional Engineer in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada.
