PhD Students

Patrick Braun (2018 - present)

Patrick is co-supervised with Prof. Alex Moewes. Patrick is studying correlated transition metal oxides using an Anderson impurity model approach to analyzing resonant inelastic x-ray scattering experiments.

MSc Students

Jessica Freese (2019 - present)

Jessie is currently studying the metal insulator transition in perovskite nickelates, using a variety of synchrotron techniques.

Lucas Korol (2021 - present)

Lucas is joining the group in September 2021, and will use artifical neural networks and inversion techniques to develop ways of analyzing resonant x-ray reflectometry data from quantum materials.

Grant Harris (2021 - present)

Grant will join the group in September 2021 to study memristive oxide materials.

Undergrad Students

Lucas Korol (summer 2021)

Lucas holds a quanTA USRA and is currently studying magnetism at LaMnO3/SrTiO3 interfaces using resonant x-ray reflectometry.

Theo Kolkman (summer 2021)

Theo holds an NSERC USRA and is co-supervised with Prof. Ray Spiteri from the Computer Science department. He is using numerical methods to study quantum impurity models.

Alumni

Niyusha Hosseini (MSc 2021)

Niyusha studied oxygen vacancies in oxide heterostructures using X-ray Excited Optical Luminescence.  She completed her MSc and took up a PhD candidate position in Austria.
