Michaela’s research focuses on how to account for social dimensions in climate change adaptation processes within resource-based communities in Canada. She is interested in improving existing tools that support community climate change adaptation planning by increasing their sensitivity to locally-relevant social dimensions, such as gender and culture. Her research aims to help resource-based communities increase their capacity to adapt to a changing climate inclusively by emphasizing attentiveness to social dimensions and power dynamics within local decision-making processes.
