  • Congratulations Jared, on receiving Doctoral research award - Cancer Research Society. The Cancer Research Society (CRS) launched a new annual program to support graduate students who are pursuing a doctoral degree in cancer-related research. The Doctoral Research Award (DRA) is open to PhD level trainees conducting their research at an eligible Canadian academic institution. They partnered with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research - Institute of Cancer Research (CIHR-ICR) which will co-fund up to 10 of these doctoral research awards. Jared was awarded this prestigious scholarship to support his graduate training in Drs. Vizeacoumar and Freywald labs.

  • Congratulations Vincent Maranda, on receiving 2022 Saskatchewan Innovation & Opportunity scholarship. The Saskatchewan Innovation and Opportunity Scholarship program for post-secondary students provides funding by the Government of Saskatchewan, matched with funds raised by post-secondary institutions through private sector and community-based partners.

  • Congratulations Liliia Kyrylenko, on successfully securing MITACS graduate fellowship. The Globalink Graduate Fellowship provides financial support to former Globalink research interns who return to Canada for research-based graduate studies at eligible Mitacs academic partners. Globalink participants applying to a Canadian master’s or PhD program at any eligible university can apply for the fellowship, regardless of where they completed their Globalink Research Internship.

  • Congratulations Chelsea Cunnigham, on receiving Lisa Rendall Graduate Student Scholarship 2017. Lisa Rendall was a patient with breast cancer, diagnosed at age 35 with stage 4 metastatic disease. At the time of her diagnosis, she was part of the C95 morning show for Rawlco Radio. Her colleagues rallied around her in support and established the Annual C95 Radiomarathon for Breast Cancer Research. That was in July of 2000. Since that time Lisa has been an advocate for breast cancer patients, and a strong supporter of the importance of research. The sub-type of breast cancer she had (HER2+) made her a candidate for a new therapy called Herceptin. She credited this new treatment with providing her with ten years of life post-diagnosis. Regrettably she passed away in April of 2011, but not before raising the spirits of many around her, and making significant contributions to fund-raising for breast cancer research. The C95 Radiomarathon for Breast Cancer Research has become her legacy, and so far has raised more than 3 million dollars to support new research that gives hope to many. Her upbeat attitude and her courageous spirit live on, and this award is in her honour.

  • Congratulations Sreejit Parameswaran, on receiving the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation post doctoral fellowship award 2016. The Friedman Burns Post Doctoral Fellowship Awards are awarded to the most promising fellows working on a breast cancer research project. These awards are intended for qualified recent PhD graduates to provide assistance in launching a career in social, clinical or basic science breast cancer research. Funding is available as a one-year stipend to a maximum amount of $50,000.
