On Friday, March 3, 2017, we held the first ever 2nd Floor Health Sciences Research Day. There was a wide variety of research presented, with a focus on building teamwork in research and innovative collaboration in science. The event began with 2 invited speakers in the morning, followed by a lunch for the clusters and a poster competition in the D-Wing Atrium for the researchers of the Biomedical and Environmental Research Cluster and the Cardiopulmonary Research Cluster.  Monique Haakensen (Contango Strategies, Saskatoon, SK, U of S Alumni) spoke about Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Science and Michael Kelly (Clinical Stroke Research Chair, University of Saskatchewan) spoke about his experiences in building a multidisciplinary research and health care team.

Our Recent Discoveries in the News

October 2016 - New immunotherapy technique holds promise for curing food allergies

The Gordon Lab scientists in the Cardiopulmonary Research Cluster have developed a new immunotherapy technique that nearly eliminates the allergic response to peanut and egg white proteins in food-allergic mice, reducing the anaphylactic response by up to 90 per cent with only one treatment. The discovery was recently announced in the October 2016 issue of the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (currently in press). More information on the research discovery can be found here.
