Some of the crops at the genebank are grown in sufficient quantities to share with legitimate research organizations doing nutritional studies. If a request for fruit is recieved and approved in time, it can be harvested and stored in our -40c freezer until it's needed. Due to the labour involved in harvesting, in some cases we ask for help with the harvest, or the costs associated with it. Some of the common crops which are available include:
Saskatoons
Sour cherries
Haskap
Plum
Apples
Keep in mind, as a Genebank, we have much genetic diversity in our crops. In some cases the fruit gathered will be from varied genetic background.
