GRC 2024

Darshi and I travelled to Rhode Island to meet people who are interested in electron interactions!

We recently attended the Gordon Research Conference on Electron Donor-Acceptor Interactions. This year's main theme was 'Enabling new functionality by charge and energy transfer'. We travelled to the beautiful Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island and spent a week from July 28th to August 2nd enjoying scientific discussions, and the sights and sounds of Newport.

During the conference, the scientific sessions ranged from singlet fission and photochemical upconversion, to charge and energy transfer in hybrid nanosystems, to chirality and spin, to long range electron and energy transfer, and beyond. Phew! We saw some truly excellent talks! Additionally, there was ample opportunity to discuss science (and non-science) topics over breakfast, lunch, dinner (at the dining hall), and the poster sessions.

Darshi also participated in the Gordon Research Seminar, which preceeded the main conference by a day. This was a chance for young and early-career researchers to share their work. From amongst the many abstracts submitted, she was invited to give a talk. By all accounts, she did a super job!

The town of Newport is quaint, there is a nice cliffwalk along the coast, and there are plenty of mansions to explore.

Here Darshi and I are enjoying one of the poster sessions during the conference. After this, many more people now know about Saskatchewan!
