Research Staff
Savannah started with Dr. Smyth back in 2014, after completing her Masters of Science in Agrciulture Economics. As a Research Officer on the SRT, Savannah works alongside her team on editing this webpage, along with SAIFood.ca, publishing and editing blogs, and helping with research such as the Crop Rotation Survey.
Currently, Savannah is the Local Chair for the ICABR conference which will be held in Saskatoon, July 8-11, 2025.
Chelsea is a Research Officer in the SRT, and a former Master's student, who helped carry out the first round of Crop Rotation Surveys (CRS) under Dr. Smyth. Since then, she has been on the team leading a number of publications on CRS results of the Saskatchewan Crop Rotation results, such as looking at the carbon emissions, chemical use, and more. Currently, she is running running the 2nd round of Crop Rotation Surveys, collecting online survey results of Canadian Prairie Producers CRS for the recent crop rotation years.

Claire is our newest Research Assistant on the SRT, joining back in the summer of 2022. While Claire is our most recent hire, she is not new to the team, and worked as a summer student back in 2017 and 2018. Currently, Claire is working on a number of projects, such as helping manage SAIFood.ca, carrying our a meta-analysis on GM published literature, as well as research of forage rotations, a parallel project to the CRS.
Current Grad Students
Kate is a Master's candidate in the DEpartment of Agricultural and Resource Economics, under the supervision of Dr. Smyth. Currently in her second year of the program, Kate is just putting the final details on her thesis "Assessing Zero-Till’s Contribution To Carbon Dioxide Emissions In Saskatchewan Agriculture".
