John McLeod is Awarded the Governor General's Gold Medal

From the convocation booklet: "John McLeod was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario in 1984. He received a B.A.Sc. Honours degree in engineering science from the University of Toronto in 2007. John received a M.Sc. and a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Saskatchewan in 2010 and 2013, respectively, while working under Professor Moewes' supervision. John used soft X-ray synchrotron radiation and computer simulations in his doctoral research to study the electronic structure of advanced materials. John has been the recipient of several awards and scholarships during his Ph.D. studies, including holding a NSERC CGSD-3 scholarship. He has presented his research at several international conferences and has authored or co-authored 23 peer-reviewed papers. John is currently an associate professor at the College of Nano Science and Technology of Soochow University, Suzhou, Jiangsu, China."
