Walking with poles at Market Mall

Community exercise sessions are held at the Community Health Center at Market Mall every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 9:30am. Exercise sessions are facilitated by Forever...in motion. These sessions are not part of a research project, are open to the general public, and no registration is required. Poles are available at clinic to use during session.

Study Information

The Nordic Walking Study is a randomized controlled trial, assessing the efficacy of the Nordic walking intervention on function, posture and quality of life in individuals with osteoporosis, history of vertebral fracture or hyperkyphosis.

Research Participants

Enrollment for Nordic Walking Study is currently closed.

Inclusion Criteria: Ambulatory individuals with osteoporosis, a history of vertebral fractures, or hyperkyphosis. 

Intervention includes three Nordic walking sessions per week over three months, which will take place in Market Mall, in collaboration with the Community Health Centre. Measurements include bone densitometry, mobility, and postural measures at the College of Kinesiology labs at the University of Saskatchewan.
