Background

Katherine, originally from Northern Newfoundland, completed her Bachelor of Science (honours) degree at Acadia University and is a registered dietitian. Throughout her career as a dietitian, Katherine has worked as a community dietitian and public health nutritionist with Indigenous communities in Northern Saskatchewan and Nova Scotia. 
Her research interests include health promotion, population health needs, food policy, cultural competency, and nutrition education. Her master’s research project focuses on investigating Canadian dietitians' knowledge, attitude, and practice concerning the provision of culturally safe care for Muslims who fast during the month of Ramadan.
