Background
Dr. Payam Sharifan, MD, PhD, is a researcher and postdoctoral fellow at the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition at the University of Saskatchewan (Vatanparast Nutritional Epidemiology Lab). He is currently working on engaging youth in type 2 diabetes prevention through a community-led initiative with Cowessess First Nation. His research background focuses on clinical nutrition, with a particular emphasis on vitamin D supplementation and its effects on cardiometabolic health. Payam has contributed to large-scale cohort studies and randomized clinical trials, resulting in over 40 publications. He also holds a patent for the preparation of encapsulated vitamin D3 and has extensive teaching experience in clinical nutrition.
