The Foundation annually offers individual awards of up to $1,500.00 to veterinary students to help them defray housing, living and travel expenses incurred while attending the externship. Eligible students must be in the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of study at an AVMA accredited college of veterinary medicine located in the U.S.A., Canada, Mexico, or the Caribbean Islands. Poultry Graduate Student Travel Grant
Deadline: November 1
The AAAP annually selects outstanding graduate student(s) to receive the Poultry Graduate Student Travel Grant to attend the Annual Meeting of the American Association of Avian Pathologists. The purpose of the award is to familiarize students to the many aspects of poultry medicine and to facilitate their interaction with research scientists, poultry diagnosticians, and clinical poultry veterinarians to further their education and training.
Poultry Graduate Student Travel Grants are meant to address the needs of graduate students who are enrolled in a Master of Science or Doctor of Philosophy program, and who do not hold a veterinary degree or are currently enrolled in a veterinary program. While preference will be given to students who do not hold a veterinary degree, MS or PhD students who hold a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (or equivalent) degree may also be considered. While these students can secure funding for their education, they often need funds to present their research at the AAAP Annual Meeting. These scholarships will encourage those students to continue a career track in poultry health.
